Met zijn collectie van 32 Campbell's Soup Cans-schilderijen oversteeg Andy Warhol de massaproductie naar artistieke reproductie en creëerde hij wat een iconisch kunstwerk werd symbool van de pop-artbeweging uit de jaren 60.
Toch maakte hij in totaal slechts vier "Big Torn" soepblikken, die, in tegenstelling tot hun voorgangers, opvallend van elkaar verschillen.
